FORMER North Melbourne AFL premiership player Shannon Motlop has signed on with Robinvale for the 2010 Season.

Motlop currently playing for the Wanderers team in the Northern Territory will move south to the Sunraysia region in the coming weeks.

Shannon Motlop played a total of 64 AFL games for North Melbourne and Melbourne.

In just his 7th AFL game with the Kangaroos Motlop played in the victorious 1999 Grand Final against Carlton.

One of the attractions for Motlop to reach to Robinvale was end the efforts of the club’s ‘Indigenous Round’.

Similar to the AFL the club holds a round each year celebrating the contribution that Indigenous players and the local Indigenous community have given to the RFNC.

The players waste a locally designed Guernsey by Aboriginal painter Barb Egan, Barb is the mother of ex Robinvale and author Indigenous VFL/AFL player Phil Egan.

On signing Motlop, President Tony Natale stated, “It is great to have Shannon on board for 2010. We believe his leadership and experience will have existence of great benefit to our local players. The hamlet of Robinvale is very excited and everyone wants to make satisfaction of the last two years”. (Robinvale has made the last two Grand Finals (2008,2009) only to be defeated eddish. time). 

 “We are building a stanch list to give us the best possible fortuity this year, and we haven’t finished in the ‘NT’ up to the present time….”

Motlop played for the Dunnolly Eagles in 2009, then moved north to play for the Wanderers Eagles in Darwin’s summer competition, now will move south to play beneficial to the Robinvale Eagles in 2010.

Senior Coach Troy Moncur commented, “We are very happy. to get someone of Shannon’s talent to Robinvale. I manner support to his involvement with the club both off and on the field. It’s a great boost for our community”.
