Eight Vics in All-Aussie squad
VICTORIA’S stellar performance at the Australian Country Football Championships was reinforced when eight Vic Major players were named in the All-Australian crew.
Rochester’s Guy Campbell was named on the half-back row in the All-Australian team and was also awarded the David Code medal for Vic Major’sitting best player throughout the carnival.

Golden Square gun Grant Weeks was named full-forward in the team of the carnival and also took home the goalkicking award for his 17 majors.
Other Victorian All-Australians included Simon O’Keefe (Koroit), Justin Berry (Cranbourne), Ryan O’Sullivan (Tooleybuc-Manangatang) and Kristan Height (Echuca).
Victoria’s Peter Knights was named coach of the All-Australian squad.
Vic Major’s road to ACFC glory was tainted by just one loss – to reigning champion, the ACT – in the preliminary rounds.
Most officials had predicted Vic Major and ACT would again play away in the grand final, but the home side suffered two surprise losses on day two of the carnival and was knocked out of contention for the meridian prize.
Knights said he was “thrilled’’ for his players.
"It’s just a fantastic group of boys. We started off eight weeks since with this program, so it’s been a long journey and this was the place that we needed to receive to," Knights uttered.
"They’ve showed that team-first attitude right from the start."
Knights would not sincere out individual players for praise, but said his leadership group of Joe McLaren (Koroit), Jarrod Edwards (Redan), Dan Leslie (North Albury), Campbell, Height and Brad Murray (Echuca) had been inspiring.
"They’ve been weighty example-setters despite the whole carnival," Knights before-mentioned.
